  • After Wednesday's windstorms in Butte left households with outages and property damage, NorthWestern Energy and partners announced LIHEAP (the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program) to help low-income customers manage heating bills before winter intensifies.  MontanaRightNow

  • A national study shows nearly 60 percent of Americans think 2026 will bring financial relief, yet only 26 percent plan money resolutions (with saving more as the top goal) while over half cite inflation as a key worry. Montanans may see similar trends as they plan their budgets for the year ahead.  KXTL

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Butte crews cleared 30 downed trees from roadways after a massive windstorm hit on Dec. 17, causing most private damage while public property remained largely unharmed — officials noted that emergency responders helped handle 80 storm-related calls.  KXLF

SPORTS NEWS

  • Brawl of the Wild: The Rematch airs today at 6 p.m. on CBS affiliates across the state (including KBZK, KPAX, KTVQ, KRTV, KXLH and KXLF) as analysts Ty Gregorak and Jordan Tripp prepare viewers for the playoff game that could send the winner to Nashville for the FCS national championship.  KXLF
  • Montana skijoring events will be held in winter 2026 at multiple locations, including Lewistown and Gallatin Valley starting Jan 17 through Red Lodge ending Mar 15; additional sites are Boulder, Big Sky, Whitefish, Wisdom and Three Forks, promising an exciting winter sport spectacle statewide.  KXTL
