CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Yesterday, Covellite Theater hosted an educational film night honoring Native American Heritage with a screening of Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee and an educational talk with movie trivia offered in collaboration with Butte Native Wellness Center and BSB Public Library. Tomorrow, the theater will hold a Black Friday Goth Night with live music from Sun Occulter — on Saturday it will present a bass music show for adults featuring local and regional artists. KXTL

- ➤ Carpenters began replacing 113-year-old windows at Butte’s historic county courthouse in July using massive windowpanes (up to 500 pounds) as part of a $1 million project funded by the American Rescue Plan Act and the county's capital improvement budget (which also funds four bathroom upgrades) to protect this community landmark. - ➤ Butte officials met with residents to discuss a plan for a data center on 600 acres at Montana Connections Business Development Park, where Washington-based Sabey Data Centers has until Feb. 11 to decide whether to proceed. Officials noted the project could create jobs — while local groups are concerned about rising energy prices and industrial water use. MontanaRightNow
- ➤ The Department of Interior announced today that a new national parks pass will cost $80 for Americans and $250 for foreigners. Montana lawmakers Tim Sheehy and Ryan Zinke discussed the idea last summer — and the pass now features a digital option that covers two motorcycles per pass. KXTL
- ➤ The Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency announced that U.S. Army Pvt. Henry D. Bordner of Butte, captured during World War II, was accounted for on April 2 using DNA and other tests—his remains will be returned to Butte for reburial at a later date. KXLF
