ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Scientists say Montana experienced a mini-ice age from roughly 1300 to the mid-1800s when volcanic eruptions and low sunspot activity triggered extremely cold winters—explorers recorded temperatures as low as -45°F and the Missouri River froze solid. Glaciers in Glacier National Park expanded during that time and tree rings show parts of the state remained cold for nearly 300 years. KXTL
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ The new nonprofit 4F, short for felines and foliage for fulfillment, got nonprofit status last week and will start therapy sessions at the Cat Show Cafe along with a plant program at three local high schools in 2026. Director Josh Marks said many visitors felt like they were in therapy when around cats—so he made 4F to help more people feel better. KXLF

- ➤ Montana Tech's undefeated football team will play Rocky Mountain at Herb Klindt Field in Billings this Friday at 7pm — a previous win in Butte did not count in conference standings. The men's basketball team will be in Dillon at 1pm while the women's basketball and volleyball teams host key games later this weekend. KXTL
- ➤ At 9 a.m. on Main Street, the Copperheads bus was escorted by police and fire and rescue with sirens and lights—fans cheered as the team headed for the Malta playoffs. The Montana Standard
