- ➤ The Butte Country Club will host its 5th annual Service of Remembrance on November 20 where community members can hang ornaments on a remembrance tree to honor loved ones. Special events include a slideshow, candle lighting ceremony, musical selections from the nationally acclaimed Threshold Choir and local musicians, and a hot chocolate bar — the tree will be displayed at the Butte-Silver Bow Courthouse during the holiday season. - ➤ The Butte-Silver Bow Courthouse held its annual pumpkin carving contest and now displays the pumpkins in the courthouse rotunda until Halloween—visitors are invited to see the creative designs. KXLF

- ➤ Montana adults are getting ready for Halloween by choosing costumes that mix pop culture with old favorites—costumes like The Addams Family and Beetlejuice are popular—and they also pick classic choices such as skeleton, Batman, Joker, and witches from Wicked. The trends, shared on social media, show that nostalgia plays a big role in this year's adult celebrations. KXTL
- ➤ Kate McCourt, Butte-Silver Bow County’s historic preservation officer, studied old newspapers that show Butte’s Victorian culture was fascinated with mystics and fortune tellers. She will give a free Halloween talk, “The Mystic and The Mountebank,” on Oct. 28th at 7 p.m.—explaining how women capitalized on the booming occult business. KXLF

- ➤ At Hillcrest School, students used Safeway-donated eggs in an egg drop challenge on Friday morning as they tested their engineering skills. They first dropped the eggs from a step ladder and then from an 80-foot ladder truck provided by Butte Fire Department—about half of the eggs survived the fall. KXLF
- ➤ Operation Warm distributed hundreds of free winter coats to Margaret Leary School students in Butte to help them stay warm during winter — volunteers assisted students in choosing the right style. KXLF

- ➤ Families across Montana will face cool and mostly dry Halloween weather with showers in a few spots like Missoula and Whitefish. Residents are advised to plan ahead for cooler temperatures after dusk — a factor that may affect trick-or-treat plans. KXTL
