BUSINESS NEWS

  • KXLF is switching from VHF to UHF for free over-the-air broadcasting in Montana to boost indoor reception by providing better signal coverage and penetration. Viewers must rescan their televisions using the channel scan option in the menu on their remote + follow the updated settings to receive the new channels.  KXLF

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Montana's Superintendent of Public Instruction sent a letter Tuesday night to school superintendents after audio clips from last week's teacher conference in Missoula showed presenters giving guidance on deceptive practices — including how to mislead parents and skirt state law. She warned that schools risk losing funding if they do not comply and said her office is reviewing whether to revoke MFPE's professional development credits.  KXTL

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks reported over 40 grizzly bear conflicts since September with hotspots in Flathead, Seeley-Swan, Red Lodge and the area east of Missoula — two encounters near Big Sky involved hunters who safely used handguns and bear spray to deter charging bears.  KXTL

SPORTS NEWS

  • Butte High football will face Helena Capital on Friday at 7 p.m. at Naranche Stadium as the team needs a win for a playoff chance—while Bulldog volleyball hosts matches on Friday and Saturday and the cross country teams head to the State Meet in Missoula.  KXTL
  • Butte Central will host a busy sports week as the football team will face the Dillon Beavers Friday at 7 p.m. at Bob Green Field for a playoff spot and the Cross Country team will compete at the state meet in Missoula Saturday at 11 a.m. The Volleyball squad will play games on Thursday in Frenchtown and Saturday during Senior Parent Night—adding to a packed schedule for senior athletes.  KXTL
