CULTURE NEWS

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • A proposal to repeal the Roadless Rule aims to restore public access and boost forest management along nearly 45 million acres in Montana—local agriculture leaders say the change may ease fire risk and help revive timber and grazing resources.  KXTL

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Butte Council of Commissioners agreed to send the state data on a new women’s prison by October 16th—officials said most residents oppose the project. They warned a 400-bed facility might strain the city’s sewer system and pull staff from the local detention center.  KXLF

HEALTH NEWS

  • St. James hospital has been reverified as a trauma center after a strict review—confirming it meets high standards for emergency care. Officials say the designation shows the facility is ready to treat patients with serious injuries.  The Montana Standard

LIFESTYLE NEWS

  • Research from Vantage Point shows that nearly 30 percent of Montanans have had an intimate relationship with artificial intelligence and over half have used AI for advice—ChatGPT is the leading platform. The study indicates a shift in dating habits as technology becomes a part of personal relationships.  KXTL

SPORTS NEWS

  • Butte High Bulldogs football team will travel to Kalispell this Saturday to face the Flathead Braves — with varsity at 6 p.m., Frosh at 11 a.m., and JV at 2 p.m. The Bulldogs are also set to play volleyball and soccer on Tuesday and Thursday — and their cross country team will head to Helena for the 7 on 7 meet starting at noon.  KXTL
  • The Butte Central Maroons will host the Blocktober Classic volleyball tournament starting Friday at 9 a.m. at the Butte Civic Center and Maroon Activity Center plus teams from many communities will compete as the school also prepares for a cross country meet in Helena on Thursday and a football game against Frenchtown on Friday.  KXTL
