CULTURE NEWS

  • The Bozeman Paranormal Society hosted its fourth annual Big Sky Paranormal Conference at the Clark Chateau in Butte on Saturday—featuring nearly two dozen speakers, ghost tours, classes, a séance and workshops. Organizers said the event attracted as many as 80 people and showed growing local interest in paranormal topics.  The Montana Standard

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Anaconda’s 585-foot free-standing brick smelter stack closed on Sept 29th, 1980, causing 3200 job losses and ending a century of local mining. The structure now draws tourists and is celebrated each year during Smelterman’s Day festival—honoring its role in the region’s industrial past.  KXLF

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • Bluefield Reality data shows Montana is one of the most expensive states for luxury homes, with prices averaging 1.8 million and ranking fourth among costly states. Wyoming tops Montana by demanding over 2.2 million for luxury properties, while Hawaii and California remain even pricier+ rising luxury real estate values add pressure for buyers.  KXTL

SPORTS NEWS

  • Butte High is honoring a new class of Silver Bs in football while the Bulldogs prepare for several key matchups this week. The Girls Flag Football team competes in the state tournament in Hamilton — the golf team plays at the local Country Club and volleyball, cross country, soccer, and boys football have scheduled games later in the week.  KXTL
  • Butte Central sports teams are staying busy after Monday’s frosh football game, and the Maroon Volleyball Team will host the Dillon Beavers at the Maroon Activity Center this Thursday with frosh, JV and varsity matches set at 4:15 p.m., 5:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. respectively—part of a week that also sees cross country, football and golf contests.  KXTL
