CRIME NEWS

  • Police in Butte arrested two individuals after a road rage incident near Main and Copper streets just before 1 a.m. on Saturday when a 19-year-old allegedly pulled a pistol during a dispute that resulted in a woman being struck—authorities also detained others during the week for a protective order violation, DUI-related hit-and-run offenses, a threatening argument, a parole violation and disorderly conduct amid property damage reports.  The Montana Standard

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Butte-Silver Bow commissioners set aside $25,000 in the budget to hire outside counsel if needed—this extra fund, added to the former $2,000, gives the council more legal options when conflicts arise. The measure passed by a 4-3 vote on Sept 2 and was later approved in the spending plan by a 5-2 vote.  The Montana Standard
  • Former Commissioner Jeff Mangan will speak at Copper Lounge at Montana Tech on September 10th from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. about the Montana Plan—an initiative aimed at stopping corporate money in politics that will require gathering 100,000 signatures for a ballot vote.  KXTL
