COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Classic car enthusiasts will gather on Friday, August 21—at Big Sky on Waterford Assisted Living to display their vehicles, listen to live music and support the Montana Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association. The event will charge a 10-dollar entry fee with proceeds used to fund care and research.  KXTL
  • Butte residents have a busy week as Thursday’s Music on Main features country band Shodown with live music and food trucks. On Saturday, the Butte Civic Center hosts a community fundraiser to restore Engine 25—our last steam locomotive—with live and silent auctions and historical displays from noon to 6 p.m. followed by an all-star baseball game benefiting a local children’s hospital.  KXTL
  • Big Brothers-Big Sisters of Butte will host its annual Rhythm and Brews Festival this Saturday at Original Mineyard to raise funds and entertain families. Registration for the car show starts at 11 a.m.—spectators will enjoy food trucks, microbrews, kids’ activities and live music scheduled throughout the day.  KXTL

  • Golden Ticket Cinema in Butte will close on Thursday, leaving the community without a local movie theater. The closure will impact local entertainment options—prompting residents to seek new venues for movies.  The Montana Standard

CRIME NEWS

  • Michael Brown, charged in the Anaconda mass shooting that killed four, appeared by Zoom in court Monday morning from Butte Detention Center wearing an orange jumpsuit with two public defenders—Judge Ken Walund set his bail at $2M and he remains detained with no next hearing scheduled.  KXLF
