- ➤ Events in Anaconda have been put on pause as community leaders respond to the recent tragedy that shook our area, canceling Smelterman's Day and postponing the Christmas for Kids auction while families cope with the fallout from last Friday's shootings—plans for a new auction date will be announced soon. - ➤ Granite County Sheriff Rico Barkell said on Wednesday that residents should continue their daily routines while law enforcement keeps searching for Michael Brown—accused in the August 1 mass shooting in Anaconda that killed four people, and he noted there is no indication Brown is in Granite County.
