Veterans Food Pantry & Services hosts an annual poker run and community BBQ on Aug.
22 that begins with 9:30 a.m. registration and an 11 a.m. ride through Deer Lodge, Bonner, Ovando and Avon, concluding with the final draw and dinner at TriCounty Fairgrounds at 5 p.m.
The annual Duck Derby is set to take place at Ridge Waters where locals can watch a duck race down the Lazy River & win a $1,000 cash prize for first place.
The Butte Civic Center will host the Second Annual Keep Engine 25 On Track fundraiser on Saturday, Aug.
15 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.—a free event featuring live auctions, raffles, exhibits, and local merchandise to support the restoration of the historic locomotive.

Butte High School held the seventh annual Jeremy Bullock Safe Schools Summit Tuesday and Wednesday as community members honored a local student's death and explored new ideas to boost school safety and connection (Cultivating Hope, Safety and Connection).

Montana blood banks urge donors after the American Red Cross declared a national blood supply crisis on July 27; Vitalant reported a critical shortage of type O blood and local healthcare providers say more donations are needed to keep hospitals ready for emergencies.
