CULTURE NEWS

  • The Orphan Girl Mine on the campus of the World Museum of Mining in Butte will host a 2025 underground music series that begins August 12th on its 100 foot level in front of the working mine shaft + local musicians will perform live. Guests must wear hard hats, closed-toed shoes, and be over 12 + limited tickets’ proceeds will support museum upgrades and mine tour improvements.  KXTL

ECONOMY NEWS

  • A new study on Montana’s entry-level jobs shows that employers are actively hiring while offering competitive pay and benefits amid a labor shortage. The review—based on data from 108 roles—finds that positions like Hardware Engineer I, Certified Nursing Assistant, and Software Engineer I offer strong pay, growth, and stability for new graduates and career switchers.  KXTL

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Montana’s Office of Public Instruction confirmed Wednesday that the state received $6M in federal funds for after school programs — the funds had been held for a three-month review by the Department of Education.  The Montana Standard

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • The George Grant Chapter of Trout Unlimited sent a letter on June 30 asking the Natural Resource Damage Program to focus on restoration for tributaries like Rock Creek and Flint Creek—areas hurt by past mining pollution. NRDP officials said funding decisions come from a public process and both sides are open to working together on projects to help trout habitat.  The Montana Standard
