- ➤ This week, Butte hosts family events including Lunch in the Park on Wednesday from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. with food trucks and live music, Music on Main on Thursday at 6 p.m. featuring a local band, and Saturday’s Helsinki Thunder Run with a bike parade starting at Copper Canyon Harley Davidson at 1:30 p.m.—the event ends with a free street dance from 6 to 9 p.m. that will benefit veterans’ service dogs. ACCIDENTS NEWS

- ➤ Duncan Brass—a 39-year-old Butte resident—was fatally struck just after midnight on July 19 at the intersection of Locust and Garfield Streets, and authorities have identified him while still searching for the dark vehicle's driver. MontanaRightNow
- ➤ Duncan Brass, 39, was struck and killed by a hit-and-run motorist at Garfield and Locust at 12:30 a.m. on July 19—police later reported that the person of interest died by suicide, while residents continue to report dangerous speeding on the road. KXLF
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Montana DNRC estimates that the new water law signed by Governor Gianforte earlier this week will clear a permit backlog and turn provisional permits into full certificates — providing certainty for about 12,000 permits and 4,900 change authorizations as western rivers face tighter fishing restrictions.
