Good morning, Butte.

Jason and Lita Christensen, who bought the historic steam plant in 2018, received $200,000 from the Montana Department of Commerce to repair the roof and preserve the old Hansen plant off Rowe Road.

They plan to turn it into a center for weddings and markets — a project that will restore a key piece of Butte history.

Visitors to Butte's World Museum of Mining can join an underground tour that descends into the Orphan Girl Mine to show original equipment and tight passages where miners once worked.

The museum advises buying tickets ahead + the guided tour safely demonstrates a slice of local mining life.

The Rooted Together Foundation and Deep Roots Counseling will host a ribbon-cutting for the Mobile Crisis Response Team on Saturday, July 19th from noon to 3 p.m. at 1720 Four Mile Rd., and the event will offer family activities—barbecue, face painting, a bubble machine, a dunk tank, and raffle prizes—along with mental health resources and discussions with local first responders.
