Good morning, Butte.

Butte's KBMF Radio marks 10 years on air with volunteer DJs, a newly remodeled studio, and major events planned for the community.

The station will launch a pledge drive from June 8th to 15th—plus host a party on Miners Union Day at 5 p.m. at 156 West Granite Street.

A crash on I-90 at milepost 213.0 just west of Butte blocked the left eastbound lane—causing traffic delays after the incident occurred on June 6.

Montana Resources applied with the DEQ to amend its permit and raise the Yankee Doodle Tailings Impoundment dam by 110 feet—an upgrade needed to safely store tailings and waste rock and keep the mine operating into 2045.

The proposal is part of ongoing efforts to meet state regulations and ensure safe management of mining waste.

Records show Montana has had 432 tornado events since 1950, which marks the state as active in weather due to its proximity to Tornado Alley (by the National Weather Service).

The report explains tornado strength is rated on the EF scale (based on wind speeds) to show their power.

Travel and Leisure's list of the 50 Best Places to Retire in the U.S. in 2025 ranked the Butte-Silver Bow area as the second best in the West because it offers affordable housing with a median price of $209,700, tax breaks, local festivals, and views of the Rocky Mountains.

The list also ranked Great Falls sixth with a median home value of $243,300 and noted its 12 hospitals, 185 medical facilities, state fair, and international airport that give residents easy travel.
