CULTURE NEWS

  • Covellite in Uptown Butte has launched its Bell Tower Club membership program for $20 a month that offers drink tokens, discounts on tickets and merchandise, plus bonus tickets after three months. The first 50 members will get a t-shirt (designed by Buck Miller) to support the arts scene.  KXTL
  • At the 76th Miss Montana pageant, Helena's Adella Harris was crowned Miss Montana 2026 and Butte's Harper Harryman earned Miss Montana Teen honors.  The Montana Standard
  • World Museum of Mining launches an underground concert series at the Orphan Girl Mine all summer; today, MTN's John Emeigh and his family band set the tone for nine events held 100 feet below the ground with $50 tickets, offering unique acoustics and a nod to Butte's mining history.  KXLF
  • Adella Harris of Helena was crowned Miss Montana 2026 while Harper Harryman of Butte earned Miss Montana’s Teen 2026 at the Mother Lode Theatre Saturday; Harris received scholarships & plans to attend law school, and Harryman promotes teen mental health through community services.  KXLF

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Montana state parks welcomed 3.38 million visitors in 2025 — nearly a 5% rise from 2024 — with Region 4 showing the largest surge. Officials said reservable sites helped visitors plan their trips.  KXLF
  • Bureau of Land Management issued a temporary order restricting camping at Carbella Recreation Site to hard-sided units only through Dec. 31, 2026 — a measure to reduce grizzly bear encounters. Signs will be posted at the site and the Butte Field Office provides more information.  MontanaRightNow
  • The new FishCast website launched Monday to forecast how drought conditions affect trout numbers in Montana. It combines weather data and streamflow records to predict fishing closures up to one month ahead — a tool that helps anglers find alternative spots.  KXLF
  • The Bureau of Land Management limits camping at Carbella Recreation Site through Dec. 31 due to increased grizzly bear activity. Visitors must use hard-sided units (tents and soft-sided campers are banned) to reduce risky encounters.  KXLF

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • On Monday, the EPA proposed lowering the lead cleanup trigger for residential soils and dust and expanding sampling to more homes in Butte to better protect residents from lead exposure.  The Montana Standard
