Good morning, Butte.

Volunteers worked on planting up to 5,000 American flags on veteran graves in Butte cemeteries before Memorial Day.

The event, organized by the Butte VFW, has been a decades-long tradition—honoring the service of fallen heroes.

VFW Post 1448 planted thousands of American flags in Butte to honor veterans in observance of Memorial Day; organizers said the event thanked those who served the country.

A historic building at 50 East Granite Street in Uptown Butte has been marked with safety pink slips that alarm residents, and the owner has hired a structural engineer and is working with the county to restore the crumbling brick work—an effort to preserve the turn-of-the-century structure once linked to the Thornton hotel expansion.

Early Sunday morning, the Rocker Volunteer Fire Department—along with Big Butte VFD and Butte-Silver Bow Fire Department—responded to a fire that engulfed an abandoned camp trailer, and no injuries were reported.
