- ➤ Visiting Butte this week, Wayne O Sullivan Shandon—an Irish man with deep ancestral ties—attended a ceremony at the Butte-Silver Bow Courthouse on May 21 and toured local sites to honor his family’s history in the town. He said the trip deepened his pride and underscored the lasting bond between Butte and the Beara Peninsula. The Montana Standard
- ➤ Local campgrounds including Delmoe Lake, Beaver Dam, Lowland, Toll Mountain and White House along with sites in the Georgetown Lake area now require fees, and visitors are urged to check with the local Ranger District for details as they prepare for Memorial Day weekend. - ➤ Butte Veterans Affairs clinic was renamed today to honor WWII veteran Charles (Charlie) Dowd, Montana's last known Pearl Harbor survivor. The Montana Standard
- ➤ Governor Gianforte signed House Bill 819—limiting public schools and government buildings to display only the U.S. flag and other official flags—to keep these places neutral. Some say the law stops fights while others worry it limits free speech. KXTL
- ➤ On Friday (May 23rd), Butte’s VA Clinic was named in honor of veteran Charlie Dowd (nicknamed 'Devil Dog') for his brave actions at Pearl Harbor which earned him 7 Bronze Stars; U.S. Sen.
