  • Beloved local musician Mark LaFond is recovering from heart surgery and will be off work for two months; local fundraisers and direct donations (including those at First Montana Bank on Dewey Boulevard and online) are now underway to help cover his medical bills.  KXTL

CULTURE NEWS

  • The Covellite Players will present 'A Path Through The Darkness' at the Covellite Theatre on Friday, May 29 — a series of one-act plays centered on mental health resilience, with proceeds supporting local groups during Mental Health Awareness Month; doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the show begins at 7 p.m.  KXTL

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Over 400 elementary school students gathered at Father Sheehan Park on Wednesday for the second-annual Stormwater Festival to learn hands-on about the local stormwater ecosystem.  The Montana Standard

HEALTH NEWS

  • Rick Douglass, professor emeritus at Montana Tech, spent 25 years studying deer mice and hantavirus in our community. He described his decades of work amid recent international hantavirus attention — a reminder of the ongoing local research.  The Montana Standard
