- ➤ Gov. Gianforte signed a bill on May 5 that increases fines for boaters who knowingly or negligently bring invasive species into Montana or fail to stop at a watercraft inspection station. The law doubles fines for first offenses from $500 to $700 and raises later fines to $1,400—helping protect our waterways and local industries. KXLF
