EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Parents, educators and schoolchildren gathered at a busy intersection to protest news that potential federal cuts may force the local Head Start to close. The program serves 125 children and employs nearly 40 people—its funding will be cut starting in October if Congress does not act. KXLF
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Birdwatching at Freezeout Lake is changing as low water levels force many birds to find wetter stops while local experts warn that the drought and climate change—already affecting other lakes—are shifting migration patterns and cutting the seasonal boost for local businesses.
