COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Families enjoyed Derby Day at Belmont Senior Center with a vintage hat show, hosted by the World Museum of Mining; proceeds benefited the World Museum + Belmont.  The Montana Standard
  • Big Brothers Big Sisters of Butte will host Bingo Bonanza Night at Butte Depot (818 S Arizona) this Friday at 6:30 p.m., with the first bingo game at 7 p.m. Tickets are $25 for 10 games, and proceeds support local mentoring programs.  KXTL
  • A WWII veteran from Butte returns home after 80 years in a procession along Harrison Avenue, where locals lined up to pay their respects today. The community marks this moment as a poignant link between past sacrifices and present pride.  MontanaRightNow

CULTURE NEWS

  • Butte offers historical treasures (including ghost tours) and summer events for locals. The Montana Folk Festival (a free outdoor event) will take place on the second full weekend of July and the Farmers Market will open throughout the season, giving residents new ways to explore their town's heritage.  KXTL

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Lyndsay Alt received the Montana Governor’s Veteran Commendation on April 15 at the Silver-Bow County Courthouse during Gov. Gianforte’s 56 County Tour. She, a project manager for Butte-Silver Bow County and assistant coordinator for the Veterans Treatment Court, was recognized for her Marine service and local community work.  KXLF
  • The US Forest Service announced a reorganization plan to boost field staffing and keep research programs active + the agency stressed that federal authority remains unchanged and staff will simply move to focus resources on local forest care.  KXTL
  • Walkerville Grocery partners Clark Grant & Dan Hogan allege that disparaging remarks from a council member during an Agriculture Development Council meeting weakened their state grant application by exhibiting anti-Butte bias.  The Montana Standard

HEALTH NEWS

  • A new training center for certified nursing assistants in Butte trains over 60 students to help local health facilities avoid costly traveling nurse fees. The Prosperity Training Center (funded by a $3,000 county grant) operates in a renovated former state office building.  KXLF
