- ➤ The Butte-Silver Bow County Fair board is preparing for the County Fair at the Butte Civic Center from July 31st to August 1st and is seeking community partners, vendors and volunteers to help make the event even better than last year. The fair is themed Big Sky Nights and Homegrown Delights — a promise of a fun summer weekend for the community. KXTL
- ➤ Butte community members will hold a benefit at Butte Depot on Saturday at 3 p.m. to support Jake Kraus, a father injured in a brutal gang attack in Great Falls last year—food donations, live and silent auctions, a dart tournament and a 50/50 drawing will help cover his uncovered travel and medical costs. ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Upper Missouri Waterkeeper and Big Hole River Foundation filed a petition with DEQ to name the Big Hole River as impaired because water tests over five years showed high levels of nitrogen and phosphorus — a finding that requires DEQ to respond within 60 days and could lead to pollution control plans to keep the river healthy. An official designation may guide efforts to reduce nutrient runoff and restore the river's ecosystem. The Montana Standard

- ➤ The Montana Legislature took its final key vote on a bill to establish Indigenous Peoples Day and will now send it to the governor for review—lawmakers tried similar bills in past sessions but they did not pass until now. The Montana Standard

HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention will host Butte’s Out of the Darkness walk on the campus of Montana Tech to support suicide prevention—check-in is at 10 a.m. at the Student Union and the walk begins at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 12. KXLF
- ➤ Billings Clinic and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Montana reached a multi-year agreement on reimbursement rates today—just days before the April 15 deadline—that keeps Blue Cross members in-network at one of Montana’s largest healthcare providers. The deal brings short-term relief for patients but leaves questions open about long-term fixes as key details remain undisclosed. KXTL
