COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The Montana Outdoor Expo begins today at the Butte Civic Center and runs through Sunday with over 130 vendors showcasing outdoor gear and hosting educational sessions from MT Fish, Wildlife and Parks, the Forest Service and BLM. Prizes will be drawn Sunday at 3 p.m. to benefit Big Hearts under the Big Sky — admission is free.  KXTL
  • The Science Mine will host Family Science Night on Saturday, March 22nd from 6 to 8 p.m. at 36 E. Granite St. in the Sears Building, and admission is free thanks to a donation from Town Pump.  KXTL

BUSINESS NEWS

  • A nationwide auto recall is affecting many Montana vehicles as faulty brakes, airbags, and engine issues put drivers at risk—local dealerships urge owners to check if their car is on the list and schedule repairs before driving.  KXTL

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Montana Tech’s Mining Team will travel to England from March 19th–22nd to compete in seven events at the King Edward Mine Museum. The team of 30 students—split evenly between men and women—has practiced six days a week and is set to make history by fielding two women’s teams for the first time in a while.  Montana Tech

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Today, the Butte-Silver Bow Fire Department released a $60,000 fire study that was completed last summer—its presentation was delayed after a breakdown in communication between a county commissioner and the study team. Fire Chief Zach Osborne said the report offers recommendations such as joint training and improved staffing to help volunteer and career firefighters work better together.  KXLF

HEALTH NEWS

  • Nestlé USA has issued a voluntary recall of select Lean Cuisine and Stouffer's frozen meals due to wood-like material found in products made from August 2024 to March 2025—consumers are advised to check freezers and avoid eating the meals while the company works with the FDA and USDA to investigate the issue.  KXTL
