COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Butte Cares and Butte-Silver Bow Parks and Recreation Department host the Annual St. Patrick's Day Color Run on March 17 in Stodden Park. Participants can choose a 1 km or 5 km course and join the event in person or virtually, with activity booths, food, music & color stations.  KXTL
  • Our Lady of the Rockies is using its annual pasty fundraiser to raise funds for a new roof on historic St. Mary's Catholic Church in uptown Butte; pre-orders can be placed by phone (11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday) and volunteers expect to bake 650 pasties a day starting March 23.  KXLF

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Buc-ee’s announced plans to open locations in eight new states by 2027, including Nebraska and Wisconsin, which has Montanans watching closely for a possible future stop in Big Sky Country. There is no official word on a Montana location yet (but fans remain hopeful).  KXTL

CULTURE NEWS

  • Taylor Sheridan's new drama The Madison, filmed in Montana and following a New York family's path to healing, will premiere Saturday, Mar. 14 on Paramount+; production began in late summer 2024 and work on a second season wrapped in fall 2025.  KXTL

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Sen. Steve Daines toured the Sibanye Stillwater metallurgical complex on Friday, Feb. 27 after a new federal tariff on Russian palladium raised hopes of boosting the mine’s outlook and protecting Montana jobs (the tariff stands at 132.83%).  KXLF

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Montana may see a historic wildfire season this summer due to low snowpack and dry, warm weather, and state officials advise residents to follow fire safety tips from the U.S. Department of the Interior. They recommend checking weather reports, keeping campfires safe, and maintaining equipment to protect local communities.  KXTL

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Montana Department of Fish, Wildlife & Parks updated 2026 hunting regulations as the license year began March 1, changing the antelope archery license from the statewide 900 series and limiting deer licenses to three per hunter. Application deadlines are April 1, May 1, and June 1.  KXLF
