GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Starting in 2026, Glacier and Yellowstone will charge international visitors aged 16 (an extra $100 on top of the standard fee) while U.S. citizens and permanent residents keep their rates. Updated fee-free days will be offered only to U.S. visitors on select holidays.  KXTL
  • Interior Secretary Doug Burgum & Congressman Ryan Zinke will visit Montana this Friday to share plans for advanced, cleaner mining methods that aim to boost local energy and mining operations.  KXTL
  • Residents attended a Governor’s Energy Task Force open house at Cooper Lounge on Montana Tech campus on Feb. 25 to question plans for a Sabey Data Centers project (on 600 acres) at Montana Connections Industrial Park. Some worried utility rates may rise while officials supported the project (citing economic benefits).  KXLF

HEALTH NEWS

  • A new study finds Butte-Silver Bow residents face higher death rates from heart disease, cancer, lung disease than state and national averages. County Health Officer Karen Maloughney said the aging population may contribute & an action committee is forming to further examine the findings.  KXLF
