COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Butte's Belmont Senior Center is hosting a busy week for seniors with fresh, noon meals and varied events such as sneakers exercise class and bingo on Monday; cinnamon rolls and coffee Tuesday; tech nurses on Wednesday; wood carving Thursday; and trivia Friday.   • Town Pump Charitable Foundation is announcing a $100,000 annual sponsorship + supporting Special Olympics Montana, strengthening opportunities for local athletes and community inclusion.  The Montana Standard

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Local firefighters responded to an early-morning fire at a residence in the Jerry Creek area (between Divide and Dewey) on Thursday, with the incident reported as contained soon after the alarm.  The Montana Standard

CULTURE NEWS

  • Country star Luke Bryan will perform at the First Interstate Arena at MetraPark in Billings on Friday, July 31 with special guests. Tickets go on sale on Friday, Jan. 30 at 10 a.m. and fans can enter XL Country’s contest to win early access.  KXTL
  • A new museum and liquor line honoring Butte native Evel Knievel will open in Las Vegas this April. Filmmaker Lathan McKay, who started a smaller tribute in Kansas, will return in March to launch Evel Spirits in Butte.  KXLF

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Butte Central Catholic Schools will celebrate National Catholic Schools Week today, joining over 5,800 schools + 1.6 million students nationwide.  The Montana Standard

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • A repository siting committee rejected a controversial site near Centerville and the Berkeley Pit (for now) and will propose expanding the existing Butte Mine Waste Repository to handle corridor wastes.  The Montana Standard

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Sabey asked for an extension on its data center land deal, and Butte-Silver Bow commissioners will review the request in the coming weeks (exact timing to be determined).  The Montana Standard

SPORTS NEWS

  • Montana Tech announced its 2026 football schedule via the Frontier Conference, with home games starting on Saturday, Sept. 5 against Carroll Colleges and featuring matchups with Southern Oregon and Rocky Mountain Colleges. Game times will be posted on the athletics website.  KXTL
