- ➤ Butte’s Snoflinga winter festival will run Jan. 30-Feb. 1 even with warm weather, so some events will move indoors. Montana Tech’s hockey game is rescheduled to the Butte Community Ice Center on Jan. 31 (7:30 p.m.) while the opening ceremony stays at the High Altitude Speed Skating Center. KXLF

- ➤ Butte Central Catholic Schools will mark National Catholic Schools Week with an All School Mass on Tuesday, Jan. 27 at 8:30 a.m. at St. Ann’s Church led by Bishop Vetter — the week continues with an awards ceremony on Wednesday at 6 p.m. at the Maroon Activities Center. KXTL

- ➤ Butte ranks as the third coldest town in the US among cities with over 20,000 residents, averaging 40.1 F annually and adding to Montana’s record of extreme winter events. Past records include a 15 inch snowflake from 1887 and a minus 70 F reading at Rogers Pass in 1954. KXTL
